Wireless Sensor Network

I am currently working on a research in the field of wireless sensor networks. The specific area that I am looking into is energy aware self-healing wireless sensor networks. Sensor networks are getting popular which may boost from 2010 onwards. Sensor networks is widely used in many areas such as habitat monitoring, indoor climate control, surveillance, wildife habitats, inteeligent alarms as well as in military and medical disnostics. Sensors are very tiny devices mounted at the target area to track events and respond to the requested nodes. Most of the research that has been done for energy aware routing protocols were mainly focusing on static and stationary nodes such as in the forest or weather monitoring. But I am looking into mobile sensor nodes which can track events in a mobile or moving positions such as mobile robots which has implanted sensor nodes. The research mainly focuses on self-healing energy aware routing for mobile sensor nodes. A possibility of looking into bio-inspired methods to tackle this problem or so called challenge is awaiting. Though challenging and very technical, yet excited to venture into it. Any suggestions is welcomed..

Web2.0 Tools in Education

Web2.o tools such as blogs, wikis, mashups and twitter are becoming useful tools to beu sed in classroom. Students can use blogs as a reflective journal for their classroom related matters as well as for subject summaries. An example could be where students can summarise their subject contents. Here are some examples :http://bubbleredbean.blogspot.com or wengyanyip.blogspot.com. Besides that blog can be used for discussion and collaborative discussion on a particular topic such as given here http://calzcks89.blogspot.com/2009/11/question-1-comment-and-knowledge.html.

Wiki is another tools that learners and educater can use in their classroom. For example wiki can be used for collaborative editing for group assignments or journal papers. This seems to be similar to Google Docs but can be used in a much dynamic way. Example http://spring-efaciilitation.wetpaint.com/. Wikis can also be used in a business environment for example for e-marketing purpose or as a CRM tool. Business partners can work collaboratively on wiki by updating product information and planning their projects. Example of wiki in business is: seekeat.wetpaint.com

Besides these tools, discussion board can be used as a tool for online synchronous or asynchrous discussion tool. This is very much similar to classroom face-to-face discussion but performed in a virtual environment. This seems to effective since discussion is done collaboratively and more spedifically in an online environment. Helpful for those students who have fear in public speaking and shy to express their ideas in public. Also gives more room for students to collect resources before participating in a discussion.

Any idea on wikipage

As I am doing research in on-line discussion, I would need to
get an idea of wikipage. Is wikipage considered on-line learning?

Use of mind map in on-line discussion

I came across this site http://www.bubbl.us/ that helps students to incorporate
mind maps into their blogs or web pages. This sounds very interesting. This tool
would help them to remember their facts.

On-line Discussion

I have been using on-line discussion board in my classes. Students show positive attitude towards this learning tool. They find thatit is quite exciting as they learn from each other, known as peer learning. Even I do learn from some of them. They have given a new idea of creating a simple web based database using tools such as SkyDrive. As they are on par with technology updates, the rest of htem can learn from them using this kind of threaded forums.

For my class, I am using a freeware discussion board known Nicenet which looks almost similar toBalckboard system.
